After a century rooted in Katong, Chin Mee Chin Confectionery is preparing to open its very first branch outside the neighbourhood that made it famous. Slated to arrive at Nex mall in the third quarter of 2026, the new outlet marks a major milestone for one of Singapore’s most beloved heritage coffee shops, best known for its old-school kaya toast, nostalgic bakes and traditional sock-brewed kopi.
Founded in 1925 along East Coast Road, Chin Mee Chin Confectionery has long held cult status for its retro charm, marble-topped tables and classic teatime staples. Although the original shop shuttered in 2018 due to manpower and succession challenges, the brand found new life in 2021 under the stewardship of Ebb & Flow Group in collaboration with the founder’s family. Since then, it has successfully introduced a new generation to its signature house-made lemak kaya, cream horns, chiffon cakes and luncheon meat buns while preserving the spirit of the original confectionery.
The upcoming Nex outlet will bring those familiar favourites to the heartlands for the first time, while the Katong flagship continues to operate as its heritage home. Diners can also expect newer additions introduced during the brand’s revival, including kaya French toast and expanded café-style offerings, all served with the same nostalgic charm that has kept generations returning for more.
