The St. Regis Singapore unveils The Tea Room and Patisserie, an exquisite new chapter in the hotel’s legacy of timeless rituals and storied traditions. This inviting modern summer garden sanctuary that is nestled within the hotel lobby, is a charming place for tete-a-tetes and a cosy spot to relax with a brew. Here, guests are invited to rediscover the St. Regis Singapore’s celebrated afternoon tea ritual, infused with modern flair and sophistication.
Taking inspiration from the nearby Botanic Gardens, The Tea Room’s mirrored panels and sculptural openings blur the boundaries between the greenery outside and the soft interiors within. Plush seating in ivory, sky blue and blush pink pair with champagne gold accents on the tables, walls, and décor. A sky-blue carpet, surrounded by walls of contemporary art lend a refined touch. Balancing classic and modern elements, the space invites both intimate gatherings and quiet moments.
“The Tea Room and Patisserie is a thoughtful expression of our commitment to reimagining cherished traditions through a contemporary lens,” says Allen Howden, General Manager of The St. Regis Singapore. “These venues reflect our dedication to creating exquisite moments that celebrate both the local character of our best address and the signature sophistication that defines the St. Regis.”
Redefining the Tradition of Afternoon Tea
First introduced in the 19th Century by Mrs. Caroline Astor at The St. Regis New York, the afternoon tea ritual is a tradition that continues to be celebrated across all St. Regis hotels and resorts globally, with each property offering its own interpretation. At The Tea Room, the new Summer Garden Afternoon Tea ritual begins with a glass of sparkling tea and your choice of coffee or a pot of tea brewed tableside by a tea sommelier. The culinary sojourn continues with artfully handcrafted savoury canapés and sweet treats presented on a classic three-tiered stand, alongside unlimited servings of freshly baked scones. Guests have the option of choosing from four types of artisanal jams and clotted cream to accompany the scones.
The Summer Garden Afternoon Tea menu pays homage to The Tea Room’s botanical design concept as well as the colours and flavours of Summer. Delight in savoury canapés like foie gras on shortbread with raspberry caviar; a St. Regis Tea-cured salmon mosaic with cream cheese and mango pearls; and a goat cheese tart with elderflower and chervil. Sweet creations include the Jasmine Citrus with mandarin confit and light jasmine ganache; the Pistachio Financier Cake with Strawberry Confit and Orange Compote; and the Tropical Garden Tartlet. A special Vanilla Macaron and zesty Lime Caramel Praline concludes the experience. Prices start from $65++ per person with a glass of Copenhagen Sparkling Tea or from $95++ per person with a glass of R de Ruinart Brut Champagne.
Curated Local Flavours and Distilled Spirits
Beyond afternoon tea, The Tea Room’s all-day à la carte menu features local and western specialities. Familiar local flavours are reinterpreted with refined technique and presentation, such as in the Chilli Crab Kueh Pie Tee, Rojak Salad, and Lobster Laksa. The culinary narrative continues with intricately crafted desserts such as the Calamansi Tart and Pandan-Coconut “Tiramisu”.
Complementing the culinary offerings is a curated beverage program that features sustainably sourced teas from Taylors of Harrogate and arabica coffee beans from Tanamera Coffee & Roastery. To further elevate the local beverage offerings at The Tea Room, enjoy a range of artisanal gins and spirits from Singaporean distilleries – Brass Lion Gin, Tanglin Gin and Compendium Spirits.
