Obongzip has opened its second Singapore outlet at The Star Vista, just months after making its local debut along Tanjong Pagar Road earlier this year. The Korea-famous chain, which operates more than 300 outlets across South Korea, has quickly built a following here for its lively Korean barbecue experience and viral oversized grilled rice cakes that have been flooding social media feeds.
The restaurant’s signature XL grilled tteok remains the standout attraction — a palm-sized Korean rice cake grilled until lightly crisp on the outside while staying soft and chewy within. Served with injeolmi powder and honey dip, the dish has become something of a crowd favourite. Beyond the viral hit, Obongzip is also known for hearty communal platters centred around Korean comfort food classics, including fire-grilled spicy octopus, bossam pork and spicy buckwheat noodles, all accompanied by an endless spread of banchan.
Much like its bustling Tanjong Pagar outlet, the new Star Vista location brings the same energetic Seoul-style dining atmosphere, complete with bold Korean signage and communal table seating designed for group meals and gatherings. The expansion into Buona Vista also makes the brand significantly more accessible for diners living in the west, adding another highly anticipated Korean dining option to the neighbourhood’s growing food scene.
