IM QALB by Pun Im has recently opened at Tampines Mall, bringing a creative casual Thai-Malay dining concept to the east. Founded by Chef Vincent Pang and the Pun Im Group, the restaurant draws on the bold, soulful flavours of Southern Thailand while incorporating Malay influences. Its name combines “IM”, inspired by the Thai word for “full”, with “QALB”, the Arabic word for “heart”, reflecting the idea of a shared meal enjoyed with warmth and hospitality. The restaurant is also working towards halal certification.
The menu combines familiar Thai flavours with more creative interpretations, with a particular focus on Southern Thai cuisine. Signature dishes include Golden Crab Tahu Kai Jeow, which highlights rich seafood flavours, and Southern Thai Style Ayam Perchik Gai Golae, bringing together Thai and Malay influences. The concept builds on Pun Im Group’s approach to Southern Thai cooking while offering a more approachable format designed for casual dining.
The dining room takes inspiration from terraced paddy fields, referencing rice as a shared staple across Southeast Asia and reinforcing the restaurant’s emphasis on bringing different culinary traditions together. With its location at Tampines Mall, creative Thai-Malay menu and focus on Southern Thai flavours, IM QALB offers a new dining option for the east while continuing Pun Im’s exploration of regional cuisine. The restaurant’s guiding philosophy is summed up in its tagline: “Many Traditions. A Full Heart.”
