The City Bakery has opened its first Singapore outlet at Mandarin Gallery, bringing the New York-born bakery’s Japanese-American baking style to Orchard Road. Founded in New York in 1990, the brand later found a second home in Japan, where it now operates more than 40 locations. The Singapore outpost, known as The City Bakery Orchard, combines a bakery and cafe with a separate restaurant, giving the brand its first Southeast Asian home in the heart of the city.
The bakery counter features familiar signatures including the Pretzel Croissant, made with laminated croissant dough finished with a savoury pretzel crust, alongside Sausage Danish, Coffee Cinnamon Roll and Mixed Berry Scone. The latter takes its cue from the New York-style drop scone rather than the more traditional crumbly British version. For something to drink, the Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow comes topped with a house-made marshmallow designed to melt into the rich chocolate.
The restaurant introduces PAN NOMI (パンノミ), a bakery-led dining concept built around food and drinks, including wine and beer paired with dishes from the kitchen. Diners can settle into the Japanese-influenced interior or open terrace, extending the experience beyond a quick bakery stop into a more leisurely meal or evening drink. With its combination of freshly baked goods, cafe fare and PAN NOMI dining, The City Bakery Orchard adds another international bakery concept to the ever-evolving Orchard Road food scene.
