Orchard Towers is experiencing an unexpected revival, with a new chapter unfolding for the iconic Orchard Road landmark following the arrival of Cornerstone Community Church. Since opening its worship centre within the building late last year, the church has brought a steady flow of visitors to the once-quiet complex, contributing to renewed activity and a noticeable uplift in business for several tenants. The transformation signals a shift in perception for the property, which has long been associated with its nightlife past.
Occupying a series of units on the fourth floor, the church has converted a former nightclub space into a modern worship facility and now attracts large congregations throughout the week, particularly on weekends. Beyond drawing visitors into the building, the church has actively engaged with businesses within the complex, supporting food and beverage outlets and organising gatherings that encourage members to explore the surrounding shops. This increased footfall has provided a welcome boost for tenants who had previously struggled with low visitor numbers and high vacancy rates.
Several business owners have reported significant improvements since the church’s arrival, with some experiencing revenue growth of up to 30 per cent. Cafés, restaurants, and service providers alike have benefited from the growing community presence, while the increased activity has helped create a more vibrant atmosphere throughout the building. As Orchard Towers continues its gradual evolution, the opening of Cornerstone Community Church highlights how new uses and fresh communities can contribute to the revitalisation of a longstanding city landmark.
