Hotel Indigo Changi Airport, a new 255-room development by OUE in joint venture with Tokyo Century, will open next to Terminal 2 by 2028. Positioned as Singapore’s first hotel to attain zero-energy certification under the Building and Construction Authority’s Green Mark Scheme, the property will draw 100% of its energy from renewable sources. OUE announced at the May 29 groundbreaking ceremony that the hotel aims to offer a “distinctive local experience,” with direct access to the terminal and views of iconic landmarks such as the Changi control tower, Crowne Plaza, and Jewel Changi Airport.
The hotel’s design blends sustainability with immersive nature. Guests will be welcomed into the “Floating Forest,” an indoor rainforest featuring seven storeys of lush greenery, lantern-lit spaces, and a skylit lobby with water features and hanging plants. Timber and glass lifts will transport visitors through this vertical garden. The rooftop level will house an infinity pool, gym, and bar overlooking the runways, reinforcing its concept of urban oasis. Sustainability elements include rooftop and facade solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, naturally ventilated corridors with hybrid cooling, and shaded facades to reduce energy reliance.
Locally inspired design and curated artworks will be integrated throughout guest rooms and public spaces, reflecting the evolution of Changi as a global gateway. The hotel underscores OUE’s “asset right” strategy to optimise capital deployment, while marking the beginning of a strategic partnership with Tokyo Century. Beyond this project, the Japanese firm brings strong experience in hospitality and green technologies, supporting the hotel’s long-term environmental goals. The development is not expected to materially affect OUE’s financials for FY2025.
