W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is thrilled to announce a stunning makeover of its public spaces, transforming the spaces into an even more extraordinary and captivating place for guests to enjoy. The transformation period is part of the hotel’s ongoing commitment to continuously enhance the guest experience and exceed expectations.
The design inspiration comes from infinite nature resources and landscape, a theme weaved with the glowing jungle narrative theme and cherished by the hotel as a tropically refined destination. The new design of the hotel embodies transformation, abundant growth and unusual colours, shapes and texture, the overall combination being delicately surreal. The color blue is predominant, drawing inspiration from the surrounding Marina creating a picturesque scene that exudes elegance and sophistication.
Flowers, plants, bulbous bases, spiked protrusions and interlocked petals and mushrooms reflect both this intricate work and the luxurious elegance that nature can provide through the art pieces in the new W Lounge.
The butterfly chandeliers are a perfect combination of captivating lighting and enticing textures guaranteeing an unforgettable hotel guest experience. These timeless pieces were ingeniously repurposed from the guestrooms, as a form of sustainability, a key aspect of the hotel ethos. The transformed W Lounge also displays new conceptual columns, referred to as ‘Super Trees’. Made of timber and with accentuated shades of beige, these column sculptures challenge the notion of design, elevating the experience of unique masterpieces and allowing guests to experiment with a broader sensory experience.
The W Lounge also had the chance to integrate the Netherland-based artist Peter Gentenaar’s work in its transformed space. Utilizing and capitalizing paper, Peter Gentenaar draws inspiration from his years as a printmaker and engraver and his love of nature to create captivating paper sculptures. The sculptures start with the artist’s own kind of paper, 2-dimensional thin and strong coloured sheets of paper reinforced by ribs of bamboo that he transforms into ethereal paper art pieces with an elaborated combination of pulp drying and shrinking processes over a long period. The result is ethereal paper sculptures as simple as natural tree leaves, suspended mid-air in W Lounge’ sprawling space.
Since the hotel opened twelve years ago, the Living Room at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove has always been a vibrant and alluring area where guests can relax, socialize, and immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the property. The Living Room has evolved to become W Lounge but remains a crucial space as it is the arrival point of guests and directly reflects the vibes and atmosphere of the property. The W Lounge will be the main access for in-house and exterior guests to grab delicious sandwiches and pastries from the new Grab & Go counter, relax on W Lounge’s outdoor terrace for mesmerizing views of the Marina and breath-taking sunsets or access to WOOBAR for chic high tea and vibrant cocktail nights.
This design theme extends throughout the whole transformed hotel, from the grand entrance to the W Lounge relaxing area, the Welcome desks, the outdoor terrace, the guestrooms lift lobbies as well the Great Room. The hotel’s iconic ballroom will welcome guests’ meetings and events in the transformed space that now display one giant LED panel that can be split in two panels of 5×7 m each, brand-new AV equipment as well as a new hypnotic carpet. Sculptures, vases, lamps and decorations will follow this design direction, allowing guests to be immersed in a new luxury-liberated atmosphere with accented blue tones as a reference to the marina and the sea. Going further and beyond, the hotel’s overall transformation will allow to create of an exceptional environment that truly reflects the iconic W brand’s vibrant energy and commitment to exceptional hospitality.
