Singapore’s first specialised gym dedicated to stroke survivors has officially opened at AMK Hub, offering a new community-based space that bridges the gap between clinical rehabilitation and long-term fitness. Operated by Stroke Support Station (S3), the new facility, known as S3 Summit, is designed to help stroke survivors continue rebuilding their strength, mobility and confidence after completing hospital rehabilitation, supporting a critical stage of recovery that is often overlooked.
Purpose-built for stroke rehabilitation, S3 Summit features adaptive fitness and rehabilitation equipment tailored to improve strength, coordination, balance, endurance and mobility. The gym is staffed by stroke-trained exercise specialists and a senior physiotherapist, with equipment carefully selected to accommodate varying physical abilities, including wheelchair users. Designed to accommodate up to 40 participants at a time, the facility aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where exercise programmes are adapted to each individual’s recovery journey.
Officially launched by Heng Swee Keat on 29 July, the new gym is part of Stroke Support Station’s broader vision to empower stroke survivors beyond rehabilitation. Supported by a S$1.5 million investment from Lien Foundation, S3 Summit aims to help up to 1,200 stroke survivors over the next five years gain the confidence and skills to remain physically active and eventually transition to mainstream fitness facilities, marking an important milestone in Singapore’s long-term approach to stroke recovery and community care.
