From Takeaway to Dine-In:
NiKU iKU Launches Its First Halal Japanese Grill Concept with Meals from $7.80
Opening its first-ever dine-in outlets at Our Tampines Hub and Lot One, the brand serves freshly prepared Yakiniku and Nitsuke favourites with signature premium Gobo rice, alongside a limited-time opening promotion of 50% off the first iKU-ben with every two iKU-bens ordered.
NiKU iKU, Singapore’s first halal-certified Japanese takeaway kiosk, marks a new chapter with the launch of its first-ever dine-in outlets at Our Tampines Hub and Lot One, bringing its freshly prepared Japanese-inspired favourites into a dine-in setting for the very first time.
Known for making Japanese grill-inspired meals more accessible, NiKU iKU offers freshly prepared à la minute Yakiniku (grilled) and Nitsuke (simmered) dishes from just $7.80, served in its signature iKU-ben format and paired with premium Japanese rice options, including its distinctive Gobo rice.
To celebrate the launch, NiKU iKU is offering a limited-time opening promotion of 50% off the first iKU-ben with every two iKU-bens ordered, making it the perfect time to discover the brand’s signature Japanese grill experience at even greater value.
Fresh Japanese Favourites, Made À La Minute
At the heart of the NiKU iKU experience is its commitment to freshly prepared, cooked-to-order meals, where proteins are prepared upon order for that satisfying, just-off-the-grill experience often associated with premium Japanese dining, now made accessible at wallet-friendly prices.
The menu spotlights two distinct Japanese cooking styles:
- Yakiniku (grilled) – featuring freshly grilled proteins such as Unagi, Beef, Salmon, and Chicken
- Nitsuke (simmered) – offering comforting, savoury Japanese-style simmered options
These come together in NiKU iKU’s signature “iKU-ben”, the brand’s name for its complete meal offering. Each iKU-ben brings together freshly prepared proteins with rice and add-ons, designed for a balanced and satisfying experience. The concept reflects NiKU iKU’s approach to making Japanese meals more accessible, while staying true to the spirit and craftsmanship of the cuisine.
Each iKU-ben can also be customised with add-ons such as tamagoyaki, onsen egg, pumpkins and king oyster mushroom, allowing diners to tailor their meal to their liking.

A Sister Brand to WOK HEY, Built on a Love for Japanese Flavours
A sister brand to WOK HEY, NiKU iKU takes its name from the playful Japanese phrase 「肉、行く?!」, loosely translated as “Shall we go for meat?” – an invitation that reflects the brand’s lively, casual spirit and love for satisfying, freshly prepared meals.
Developed through extensive testing and refinement, NiKU iKU was created with a focus on delivering Japanese-inspired comfort food that balances quality, freshness, and value.
At NiKU iKU, we’ve always believed that good Japanese food should be something people can enjoy every day, not just on special occasions,” said Jake, Co-Founder of NiKU iKU. “With our move into dine-in, we’re excited to bring that experience to life in a more complete way – serving freshly grilled meals that are accessible, satisfying, and made for everyday moments.”
Signature Premium Gobo Rice: A Standout Beyond the Protein
A standout at NiKU iKU is its premium Japanese Gobo rice, a signature house recipe inspired by Japanese home-style cooking.
Fresh burdock root (gobo) is cooked directly into the rice, imparting natural earthy notes and quiet depth of flavour that elevate the meal beyond the ordinary. More commonly associated with premium Japanese dining, the Gobo rice brings a subtle sense of refinement and comfort to NiKU iKU’s everyday meal format.
Alongside its Japanese rice with furikake, the Gobo rice reflects the brand’s attention to detail and thoughtful approach to ingredient selection, drawing from elements often seen in more refined Japanese dining, now made accessible in a fast-casual setting.

First-Ever Dining Experience at Our Tampines Hub and Lot One
With the opening of its latest outlets at Our Tampines Hub and Lot One, NiKU iKU introduces seating areas for the first time, expanding beyond its original grab-and-go format.
The new outlets offer customers the flexibility to either dine in and enjoy their iKU-bens fresh off the grill, or continue opting for takeaway for added convenience. This marks a significant evolution for the brand, creating a more versatile dining experience while staying true to its fast-casual roots.
Designed with a clean, Japanese-inspired minimal aesthetic, the dine-in spaces are thoughtfully arranged to accommodate both solo diners and small groups, offering a comfortable setting for quick lunches, casual meals, and convenient everyday dining.
With a live show kitchen at each outlet, diners can also watch as chefs grill and assemble each order in real time, reinforcing the brand’s focus on freshness and made-to-order preparation.
Thoughtful Packaging That Extends the Experience
NiKU iKU’s commitment to quality extends beyond the food itself. The brand has developed a patent-pending packaging design for its iKU-bens, engineered to better retain heat and preserve freshness. Unlike standard foil packaging, which loses heat quickly when placed on flat surfaces, NiKU iKU’s innovative sleeve structure slightly elevates the container when lifted, reducing surface contact and improving heat retention.
The packaging features three main components:
- A sealed top later using a 3-layer aluminium film in NiKU iKU’s signature colours, ensuring freshness is locked in immediately after preparation
- A durable aluminium container that securely holds the meal
- A patent-pending outer sleeve, designed to act as an added layer of insulation, helping to retain heat and minimise temperature less during handling
Together, this integrated system helps ensure that every takeaway order remains warm, fresh and enjoyable even after leaving the outlet.
To mark the launch of its first-ever sit-down outlets, NiKU iKU is offering a limited-time opening promotion of 50% off the first iKU-ben with every two iKU-bens ordered.
This promotion will be available at Our Tampines Hub from 15 to 17 May 2026, and later at Lot One from 28 to 30 May 2026.
