Singapore has its first rooftop batting cage at SAFRA Tampines, giving baseball and softball fans a new open-air space to practise their swing. Operated by Urbanytes, iBat features automated batting lanes designed for both beginners picking up a bat for the first time and more experienced players looking to work on their technique.
Located alongside SAFRA Tampines’ tennis and pickleball facilities, the new venue adds another active recreation option to the rooftop. With baseball and softball still relatively niche in Singapore, dedicated places to practise can be hard to come by, making iBat a welcome addition for anyone looking to get into the sport without committing to a full training session.
The facility also has ambitions beyond casual batting, with plans to introduce training and coaching programmes for children through collaborations with qualified coaches. For now, iBat offers an accessible way to spend an afternoon taking swings outdoors — whether it is a first attempt at baseball or simply an excuse to see how hard you can hit.
