Assaggi is the newest concept by Michelin-starred Chef Denis Lucchi, opening along Neil Road on 10 August as a contemporary Italian restaurant centred entirely around tasting menus. Positioned between the refined elegance of Buona Terra and the casual charm of Locanda, the new restaurant offers a more approachable way to experience Lucchi’s cooking, focusing on seasonality, flavour and craftsmanship without the formality or premium price tag typically associated with fine dining. The intimate space has been designed for a relaxed, chef-led dining experience where every course tells part of the story.
Unlike traditional Italian restaurants, Assaggi serves tasting menus exclusively. Guests can opt for a three-course lunch from S$58, while the Signature Journey and Pasta Journey menus (both from S$88) offer a more immersive experience complete with welcome snacks, house-made bread and dessert. The Pasta Journey celebrates one of Italy’s most iconic culinary traditions through multiple tasting-sized pasta courses, while the Signature Journey showcases seasonal seafood and meats prepared with contemporary Italian techniques. A standout highlight is the restaurant’s indulgent house-made bread, paired with whipped Beppino Occelli butter and glazed with honey, balsamic reduction and duck fat.
Complementing the food is a beverage programme developed in collaboration with Japanese speakeasy Bar Kakure, featuring handcrafted cocktails alongside an extensive wine collection of more than 170 labels, including a strong selection of natural wines. While Assaggi shares the same philosophy of quality ingredients, refined technique and warm hospitality that defines Buona Terra, it presents these values in a more relaxed and accessible format. The result is a fresh addition to Singapore’s Italian dining scene, offering thoughtfully curated tasting menus that make contemporary Italian cuisine both approachable and memorable.
