SMASH by BurgerLabo Brings Gourmet Burgers to the Heart of Raffles City
SMASH by BurgerLabo has officially arrived at The Food Place by Food Republic, marking the brand’s debut in a food court setting. This stripped-down but no less flavourful concept comes from Ken Loon, the founder of renowned restaurants BurgerLabo and The Naked Finn. Known for its commitment to quality, SMASH delivers the same signature smashed burgers—crafted with 100% grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef from Argentina—at more wallet-friendly prices in a casual, high-footfall location.
The star of the show is the SMASH Burger, offered in single ($9.80) or double ($12.80) patty versions. Each patty is seared to order from freshly ground neck cuts for maximum flavour, then paired with American cheese and a butter-toasted bun that’s finished with a swipe of brown butter. The result is a crispy, flavour-packed crust with a juicy centre—thanks to the Maillard reaction from the smash technique. Add-ons include Salted Fries, Truffle Fries, and a creamy Malted Barley Milkshake, or go for a set meal at just $4 more. For fans of BurgerLabo’s premium offerings, SMASH retains the same beef source and preparation methods, ensuring consistency across both concepts.
While SMASH may offer a leaner menu than BurgerLabo’s full restaurant line-up, it’s far from a scaled-down experience. Loon’s team, including a sous chef from BurgerLabo, ensures that the same standards are met daily at the Raffles City stall. It’s a deliberate expansion that maintains brand integrity while making gourmet burgers more accessible. As Ken puts it, “It’s basically an extension of BurgerLabo.” With its affordable pricing, high-quality ingredients, and smart execution, SMASH is raising the bar for food court dining—one juicy burger at a time.
