A new coffee spot called 2050 Coffee has opened in town, featuring a sleek, futuristic interior. Set to launch on January 25 at Beach Road, this brand was founded in Kyoto by Japanese entrepreneur Yozo Otsuki. The first international outlet is managed by the team behind Kurasu Singapore, another specialty coffee concept by Otsuki.
2050 Coffee aims to positively impact the coffee industry amid concerns about climate change affecting coffee yields. Research from the journal PLOS One indicates that coffee is among the foods most vulnerable to changing growing conditions. To address this, the brand plans to establish direct relationships with farmers who practice sustainable farming and support their businesses, as shared by a spokesperson during a media preview.
In addition to its unique approach to sourcing, 2050 Coffee offers an innovative drink experience. Customers can enjoy coffee and teas from six taps, with options that change every six weeks. The drinks include a light roast coffee from Burundi with fruity notes and a blend from Mexico featuring flavors like apple and poached pear. The café also boasts a high-tech Eversys coffee machine, allowing for quick and customisable drink options.
