Sederhana is making its Singapore debut with its first outlet at North Bridge Road, bringing one of Indonesia’s most recognisable nasi padang chains into the heart of Kampong Glam. The opening carries extra significance as the restaurant takes over the former home of Warong Nasi Pariaman, a long-standing institution closely tied to Singapore’s nasi padang heritage for nearly eight decades.
Founded in Indonesia in 1972, Sederhana has grown into a major regional brand with more than 200 outlets across Indonesia and an expanding international presence in Malaysia and beyond. Known for its Minangkabau-style cooking, the chain has built a loyal following around its hearty spread of richly spiced dishes and classic nasi padang staples. The Singapore outpost marks the brand’s latest expansion as it continues to bring its signature flavours to new audiences across the region.
Diners can expect a familiar lineup of comforting Indonesian favourites including rendang daging, dendeng balado and ayam pop, served in the traditional nasi padang style alongside a variety of side dishes and curries. Located within one of Singapore’s most culturally rich neighbourhoods, the new opening adds another notable chapter to Kampong Glam’s evolving food scene while paying quiet homage to the legacy of the address it now occupies.
