Singapore’s Circle Line is finally complete with the opening of three new MRT stations — Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road — marking the final chapter of a rail project that has been more than three decades in the making. Following a public preview, the stations will officially begin passenger service on 12 July, completing the 39km Circle Line with 33 stations and strengthening connections across the island through 12 interchange stations.
Beyond improving everyday commutes, the new stations are expected to play a key role in shaping the future of Singapore’s southern corridor. They will provide more direct rail access for residents and workers while supporting the transformation of the Greater Southern Waterfront, connecting upcoming neighbourhoods, workplaces and community spaces with the rest of the MRT network. More than 10,000 commuters are expected to benefit from shorter journeys once the stations are operational.
Each station also celebrates a different aspect of Singapore’s heritage through its architectural design. Keppel draws inspiration from nature, Prince Edward Road reflects the nation’s maritime legacy, while Cantonment pays tribute to the historic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station nearby. Together, the three new stations complete one of Singapore’s most ambitious transport projects, bringing improved connectivity while opening the next chapter in the city’s evolving landscape.
