Inspired by the famously relaxed capybara, Capybara Bathing is a Sydney-born bathhouse concept that has opened its first international outpost in Tanjong Pagar. The wellness studio brings the idea of slow, communal bathing to the city, drawing from onsen culture, Nordic spa traditions, and modern recovery rituals. Designed as a calm, social space rather than a typical spa, the bathhouse focuses on shared experiences built around water, heat, and rest.
Inside the 3,000-square-foot space, guests move through a sequence of bathing zones that include warm magnesium mineral pools, cold plunges, steam rooms, and heated lounges. One of the highlights is a Nordic-inspired hot lounge, a rare feature in Singapore, where guests can alternate between heat, cooling, and relaxation in a structured circuit. The concept follows the brand’s philosophy that bathing can be a modern ritual, encouraging people to slow down, reset, and reconnect in a quiet, minimalist setting.
Beyond the baths, the studio also plans to host guided sessions such as yoga, stretching, and sound rituals led by local practitioners, reinforcing its focus on wellness as both a physical and cultural practice. The interiors feature collaborations with designers and makers, with handcrafted ceramics, natural textures, and understated uniforms contributing to the tranquil atmosphere. With its blend of spa therapy, social bathing, and design-led space, Capybara Bathing adds a new kind of wellness destination to Singapore’s growing slow-living scene.
