Singapore Oceanarium is making waves this July with its much-anticipated reopening in Sentosa on July 23. Formerly known as the S.E.A. Aquarium, the newly transformed oceanarium is now three times larger and reimagined as a world-class marine institute. With 22 themed zones, the facility takes visitors on an immersive journey through time and tide — from prehistoric oceans to present-day marine ecosystems — showcasing everything from shallow coastal habitats to the deep sea.
Highlights include Ocean Wonders, one of the world’s largest kreisel tanks housing thousands of moon jellies, and Singapore’s Coast, which recreates mangrove-inspired landscapes and interactive habitats that spotlight native biodiversity. The Open Ocean zone features reef manta rays and zebra sharks gliding gracefully behind a 36-metre-wide viewing panel. Beyond entertainment, the oceanarium also serves a scientific purpose, collaborating with leading institutions like NUS and NTU to advance marine research, climate resilience, and conservation efforts.
Adjacent to the attraction is a new research and learning centre designed to foster marine science education. Complete with seminar rooms, immersive labs and a rooftop event space, the centre supports public outreach and academic collaboration. According to RWS, the Singapore Oceanarium isn’t just a revitalised attraction — it’s a catalyst for change, aiming to inspire future generations to protect and appreciate the ocean through interactive storytelling, naturalistic displays and state-of-the-art experiences.
