The newly revamped Singapore Air Force Museum (SAFM) has officially reopened, unveiling a refreshed experience designed to bring the story of Singapore’s air force to life for a new generation of visitors. Featuring themed zones, interactive exhibits, and immersive storytelling experiences, the updated museum offers a deeper look into the history and evolution of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). One of the standout additions is Homeward, a five-minute immersive theatre experience that places visitors in the cockpit of a fighter jet during an RSAF operation. Complete with curved screens and seat vibrations, the experience offers a thrilling first-person perspective of aerial missions and defence operations.
Beyond the theatre, visitors can explore a series of galleries that showcase the RSAF’s capabilities and heritage through cutting-edge technology. The Full Spectrum gallery combines large-scale projection mapping, operational footage, and digital animation to illustrate how the RSAF remains mission-ready across various scenarios. Meanwhile, the Viewing Gallery features interactive storytelling displays highlighting fighter aircraft, missile systems, and other air force assets, while tracing Singapore’s journey from its early aviation beginnings to today’s sophisticated defence capabilities. The Ever Ready gallery rounds off the experience by celebrating the people behind the uniforms, spotlighting the diverse roles and contributions of RSAF personnel over the years.
Aviation enthusiasts will still find plenty to enjoy outdoors, with the museum’s iconic aircraft displays remaining a key attraction. Families are also well catered for, thanks to new child-friendly spaces featuring aircraft-inspired play installations, climbable replicas, and a fully sheltered playground modelled after the C-130 Hercules. During the museum’s opening fortnight, visitors can also take part in complimentary activities such as aircraft-themed quizzes, paper craft workshops, colouring stations, and social media giveaways, making it an ideal family outing during the school holidays.
