One of Tokyo’s most talked-about dining concepts has officially arrived in Singapore, with Hikiniku To Come opening its first local outpost at VivoCity. The cult-favourite restaurant, known for its charcoal-grilled hamburg steaks and famously minimalist menu, has built a devoted following in Japan for turning a seemingly simple dish into a carefully choreographed dining experience. Its Singapore debut brings the same interactive concept to local diners, offering a front-row seat to the action as patties are grilled over traditional binchotan charcoal and served fresh from the fire.
At the heart of the experience is a single signature set built around three handcrafted hamburg steak patties made from 100 percent Japanese beef. Served in stages, each portion is designed to be enjoyed with different accompaniments and condiments, encouraging diners to explore a variety of flavour combinations throughout the meal. Refillable Japanese rice, miso soup, a side dish, and a raw egg complete the set, while an extensive selection of sauces, spices, and pickles allows guests to personalise every bite. The intimate dining room, centred around an open grilling station, adds a theatrical element that has become synonymous with the brand.
While the concept remains refreshingly straightforward, the attention to detail elevates the experience beyond a typical hamburg steak meal. From the smoky aroma imparted by the charcoal grill to the carefully curated condiments and signature house-made beverages, every element has been designed to highlight the quality of the beef and the simplicity of Japanese comfort food. With only a limited number of seats available and a walk-in-only policy, Hikiniku To Come’s arrival is set to draw both curious first-timers and devoted fans eager to experience one of Tokyo’s most popular dining exports without leaving Singapore.
