At Goodwood Park Hotel, the historic landmark along Scotts Road introduces a refreshed stay experience with the reopening of its newly renovated Mayfair Wing. Long known for its grand architecture and old-world charm, the heritage hotel — first built more than a century ago and now a gazetted national monument — has updated part of its rooms to better match today’s expectations, while keeping the colonial character that defines the property. The revamp comes at a time when newer lifestyle hotels have entered the Orchard area, giving travellers a reason to take another look at one of Singapore’s most recognisable addresses.
The redesigned Mayfair Wing brings a softer, more modern look without losing its sense of history. Interiors now lean towards a quiet, understated elegance, with light earthy tones, natural wood finishes, sisal rugs, and vintage-style accents that reference the hotel’s past without feeling dated. Black-and-white photographs of old Singapore add a nostalgic touch, while updated furnishings and modern comforts keep the rooms in line with contemporary standards. Each room comes with an ensuite bathroom with bathtub, and most notably, a private balcony — a feature rarely found in hotels right in the Orchard Road district.
Many of these balconies overlook the Mayfair Pool, a tucked-away Balinese-style courtyard pool hidden deeper within the grounds, or the surrounding greenery that gives the wing a surprisingly resort-like feel. Some ground-floor rooms even open directly towards the pool, creating a quieter, more secluded stay compared to the main building. With the renovation, Goodwood Park Hotel continues to balance heritage and comfort, offering a stay that feels both classic and refreshed — a rare pocket of calm just steps from one of the city’s busiest shopping belts.
