Fortuna Group marks a new milestone with the opening of Medusa, Singapore’s first-ever Osteria Romana. Just recently opened, the restaurant represents the group’s third concept — and perhaps its most personal yet. Inspired by Rome’s timeless culinary traditions, Medusa is a love letter to bold flavours, unfiltered comfort, and the everyday rituals of Roman dining.
The concept is deeply rooted in founder and director Egon Marzaioli’s connection to the Eternal City, drawing inspiration from his Roman wife, Alessandra Gulino. Rather than chasing trends, Medusa stays true to what Roman cuisine does best: hearty, unapologetic dishes built on tradition, quality ingredients, and confidence. It’s Italian cooking without compromise — familiar, soulful, and meant to be enjoyed slowly.

Set within the JW Marriott Hotel at South Beach Road, the space channels the glamour of 1960s Rome with a modern edge. Crimson walls, glowing LED accents, and playful portraits create a mood that shifts effortlessly from relaxed daytime dining to a sultry, candle-lit evening atmosphere. The layout caters to every occasion, whether it’s an intimate drink at the bar, a casual outdoor meal, or a long dinner tucked into the main dining space, which can also be sectioned for semi-private gatherings.
In the kitchen, an all-Roman team leads the charge, helmed by Head Chef Federico Scordo alongside dough master Giorgio Sorce. The menu opens with comforting starters like fluffy house-made focaccetta paired with pecorino and signature dips, and crisp supplì al telefono with molten cheese centres. Pasta takes centre stage — from the elegant simplicity of fettuccine with butter and Pecorino Romano, to bolder interpretations like caserecce that playfully blur the lines between carbonara, amatriciana, and cacio e pepe.
Pizza follows in true Roman form, with thin, crisp pizza romana and crunchy pinsa romana topped with both classic and indulgent combinations. Desserts round out the experience with nostalgic favourites — truffle tiramisu, cream-filled maritozzi, and torta della nonna — offering a sweet, comforting finish. At its core, Medusa is about reverence with a rebellious streak: honouring Rome’s culinary canon while confidently bending the rules, all wrapped in an atmosphere that’s equal parts seductive and relaxed.
