Now open at Lentor Modern, A Hot Hideout presents a refreshed take on Mala, thoughtfully adapted for the Singaporean palate. Balancing bold Sichuan flavours with approachability, the space is vibrant yet family-friendly, welcoming both seasoned spice lovers and first-timers alike. Customisable spice levels ensure every bowl is tailored, making Mala an inclusive and comforting experience rather than an intimidating one.
Rooted in the traditions of Sichuan cuisine, A Hot Hideout’s Mala broth is crafted with patience and precision. High-quality pork and chicken bones are simmered for hours to draw out deep, robust flavours, before being infused with Sichuan peppercorns, dried chillies, and a blend of aromatic herbs and spices. The result is a broth that delivers a gentle numbing tingle without overwhelming heaviness, offering richness without excessive oil. Signature offerings such as the Mala Collagen Soup showcase this careful balance of depth and comfort.
Founded in 2020 by a group of young NTU students united by their love for Mala, A Hot Hideout was born from a desire to turn a familiar dish into a memorable shared experience. Their vision extended beyond food, centring on connection, warmth, and the joy of gathering over a good bowl. After countless hours of research and refinement, their reinterpretation of Malatang has evolved into what is now enjoyed across multiple outlets — a modern Mala experience that continues to invite diners back for more.
