Bao Er Café is set to open its newest outlet at Fortune Centre on 1 December, marking the brand’s continued expansion from its Balestier Plaza beginnings. Known for its kaya toast and wok hei-rich Hokkien mee, the homegrown café now brings its signature flavours to the well-loved, old-school mall, adding a fresh dining option to a location popular for its eclectic food offerings. The new space reflects a modern update for the brand while staying rooted in the dishes that earned its loyal following.
Led by co-founder Jeremy Tan together with new partner Alan Ang, the Fortune Centre outlet introduces a refreshed identity for Bao Er Café, complete with thoughtful design upgrades and a more cohesive branding approach. The 40-seat café features a bright, minimalist interior with light wood elements and clean counter seating, offering a contemporary contrast to the mall’s retro charm. As the brand grows, this outlet serves as a blueprint for future stores, blending approachability with a more polished look.
Alongside familiar favourites such as kaya toast, Hokkien mee and economic bee hoon, the new outlet debuts several Fortune Centre–exclusive dishes, including stir-fried beef hor fun, black pepper pasta and house-made peanut butter toast. These new additions offer diners something fresh while retaining the comfort-food appeal Bao Er Café is known for. With its updated concept and expanded menu, the opening marks a significant next step for the brand as it continues its steady rise in Singapore’s casual dining scene.
