Hold your bamboo! The beloved pandas that Chengdu is so famous for are rolling onto Singapore shores with panda-themed 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro, Chengdu’s number one western dining concept at 313@Somerset.
Officially opening its doors on 28 October 2025, diners are definitely in for a panda-riffic time, with a line-up of Western dishes infused with fiery Sichuan flavours, as well as ultra-cute, playful panda creations – both sweet and savoury – that depict the iconic black-and-white bear. Think Hot Pot Pizza and Sichuan Pepper Steak, or how about the adorable Bamboo Milk Tea, served in a special bamboo-shaped cup, topped with a panda peeking out from the top.
From Chengdu to Singapore, with Loads of Panda Love
First opened in Chengdu, China in 2019 by hospitality group Burano, the all-day dining concept 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro specialises in Western cuisine infused with Sichuan influences. Burano itself was founded in 2013, and reflects the group’s vision of catering to a clientele of trendsetters and tastemakers with modern, tantalising concepts.
The name 5:59+ plays on the moment just before 6:00, capturing the transition between night and day. At one minute to six, it symbolises both the close of one chapter and the anticipation of the next – an idea that mirrors the café’s all-day, almost all-night identity, where guests can unwind in the evening or start afresh with brunch.
Beyond its menu, 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro also charms with its striking aesthetics — as seen across its outlets in China and now at its Urban Garden inaugural outlet in Singapore. This opening joins the brand’s portfolio of artfully designed storefronts and interiors, including its Tianhui Vanke City Plaza (天荟·万科广场) outlet in Chengdu. At the Singapore outlet, guests are welcomed into a modern space enveloped in lush foliage. The interior brings together marbled elements, warm woody accents, and abundant greenery, reminiscent of a serene urban garden that harmoniously blends nature with contemporary design.
Since it first opened its doors in Chengdu, 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro has since expanded to five outlets in China, including stores in Chongqing, Mianyang and even an outlet with a gorgeous view of the must-see giant panda statue on the rooftop of Chengdu IFS. Its Singapore debut marks 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro’s first-ever overseas outpost outside of China.
The brand’s popularity is further cemented by its accolades, having been ranked:
● #1 on Chengdu’s Western Cuisine Trending List (成都西餐热门榜第一名);
● #1 on Chengdu’s Top-Rated Western Restaurants (成都西餐好评榜第一名); and
● #1 on Chengdu’s Most Popular Check-In Western Restaurants (成都西餐打卡人气榜第一名)

Panda-riffic Creations to Savour
Just like its original outlet in Chengdu, the “Home of the Giant Panda”, 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro in Singapore will showcase signature menu items that blend Sichuan influences with Western dining. And yes, turning up the cuteness factor will also be 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro’s unique and picture-perfect panda-inspired dishes, desserts and drinks with a playful twist.
Kickstart the meal with tantalising appetisers such as the tender Mala Beef Tongue 烤辣卤牛舌配麻辣花椒汁 ($26) — braised in a housemade Sichuan herbal marination sauce crafted with balsamic and peppercorn for an extra kick. This comes alongside other items, including the fresh Seared Tuna & Avocado with Spicy Wasabi Dressing 轻煎金枪鱼配芥末红油酱汁 ($24).
Those who love mala won’t be able to get enough of 5:59+ Cafe & Bistro’s innovative Mala Hot Pot Pizza 麻辣火锅披萨 ($27). This features beef tripe, always a textural delight to add to your mala hot pot base, along with stretchy mozzarella and even the vibrant cordyceps flowers.
For more fiery goodness, order the Szechuan Pepper Steak 香辣藤椒牛排 ($39). Cooked to your preferred doneness, the blush oyster-steak meat literally gets spiced up with Sichuan pepper, making each succulent bite even more memorable.
Order also the Carbonara 烧椒酱奶油培根意大利面 ($25), a plate of al dente handmade fettuccine tossed with bacon and mushrooms, sautéed in extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and topped with burnt chilli sauce. A savoury yet playful creation that might get many intrigued is the D24 Durian Pizza 苏丹王D24榴莲披萨 ($29), which sees the unique crossover of durian and mozzarella cheese, all atop a handmade pizza crust.
Don’t worry, be panda with 5:59+ Bistro & Cafe’s immediately recognisable Panda Mousse Cake 熊猫慕斯甜品 ($12), a creamy black-and-white confection that’s cuteness overload on a plate. Even the Signature Panda Latte 招牌熊猫拿铁 ($6) conjures up relaxing vibes with the rare marshmallow bear chilling in the middle of your coffee.
