Taira Pastry is the newest addition to SAFRA Tampines, tucked away on the second floor in a lesser-known wing of the building. It’s the latest concept by the team behind 7th Heaven KTV and Café, which also operates within the same complex but in a separate section. The pastry shop is located near well-loved eateries like KEK Seafood and Springleaf Prata Place, and features a glass-fronted unit that overlooks the atrium. Inside, the space embraces a calming Japandi aesthetic — a blend of zen minimalism and Scandinavian warmth, with wooden furniture, slate-grey cabinetry, and a clean, curated look. Most of the seating comprises counter seats facing either the preparation area or out toward the atrium, complemented by a few round tables for two.
As a patisserie, Taira Pastry offers both sweet and savoury creations, with its signature experience being the DIY tart and pastry selection. Customers can choose a base — from caramel-glazed croissants to puff pastries and tart shells — then customise it with their preferred spreads, flavours, and toppings. For a quicker treat, there’s also a tempting display of ready-made tarts, cakes, muffins, and cookies. The beverage menu ranges from hand-brewed and espresso-based coffees to iced specialty drinks, hot teas, and bottled cold brews from the fridge behind the counter.
Among the highlights is the Hazelnut Chocolate Tart, which features chocolate sponge, hazelnut, Nutella spread, and Nutella Chantilly. Surprisingly well-balanced in sweetness, the tart offers a pleasing nuttiness with layers that transition smoothly — from the soft sponge to the creamy Chantilly and the firm yet crumbly tart base. Topped with crunchy hazelnuts and a touch of gold leaf, it’s a delightful choice for both chocolate lovers and those looking for something indulgent without being overly rich.
