Maji Curry, the award-winning Japanese curry chain, has launched its second outlet in Singapore—this time at Funan. Known for clinching top honours at the Tokyo Kanda Curry Grand Prix in both 2018 and 2022, the brand has earned a loyal following for its bold, umami-packed curry that actually brings the heat. Among the menu highlights are the Hamburger Steak Cheese Sauce Curry Rice, featuring rich cheese fondue poured over juicy hamburger steak and fragrant Japanese curry, and the Tonkatsu Omelette Curry, a comforting dish of creamy curry rice topped with fluffy omelette and crispy pork katsu.
The Funan outlet offers more than just great food—its interior design is a sensory experience in itself. At the heart of the space stands a handmade nebuta float, a nod to Japanese craftsmanship and culture. The overall ambience captures the essence of Japan, creating an immersive dining atmosphere that delights all five senses.
“MajiCurry” was founded by Ken Takagi, whose love for curry began in childhood. Driven by passion, he spent years travelling the world to explore the diverse use of spices and regional curry cultures. Inspired by these global flavours, he set out to create his own version of curry by fusing them with traditional Japanese elements. With guidance from renowned chefs and a decade of experimentation, Takagi finally perfected his vision—what is now known as “Maji Curry,” derived from the Japanese word for “serious.”
