Going with the flow led to the creation of Flow Bar: what started out as an ad hoc collaboration went so well that it became a permanent space above Michelin one-star Restaurant JAG in August 2021. Two years on, the concept’s creatively spirited journey has flowed with the tides of change to a new home of its own – Flow Restobar – at 39 Neil Road.
This is a new playground where bartender and co-founder Ricky Paiva – alongside the owners of Restaurant JAG – have fully realised their vision for a modern Californian resto-bar. “California is always associated with sun and surf, but it is also known for its great produce, and for being a melting pot of diverse cultures, which brings about a style of hospitality that is genuine, friendly, and open, very much like Singapore. There is also an element of cool – California is fashion-forward, riding at the forefront of trends,” shares the Californian native.
Flow Restobar adopts an evergreen chic with sides of warmth and easy charm to expand its reach beyond those seeking preprandials and after dinner drinks. It is the place to be: where hearty fare, quality drinks, and casual conviviality convene.
The sun-kissed, cosmopolitan energy of California is translated into a vibrant, welcoming space fitted with clean lines, modern aesthetics, and the visual intrigue of varied textures. Step through the doors of the ground floor unit and be greeted by the restobar’s motto, “Go with the Flow”, glowing in neon against a wall of greenery. Where reservations were a must, this new space welcomes one to drop in when the mood calls for it. The new home allows for all to let their hair down and party to 90s alternative rock-inspired sounds.
Diners can fill their bellies with a well-rounded meal of a goddess salad to start, a succulent steak or burger for a main, and a delightful slice of classic American pecan pie to finish. The new drinks menu is streamlined and presented with greater fluidity. Starring a selection of the original cocktails and new mixes alike, it inspires guests to go with the flow and explore new flavours.
