Telok Ayer’s latest noodle spot, Nice Noodle, comes from the team behind Nice Rice at Moonstone. The compact 138 Robinson Road space takes a playful approach to Japanese ramen, with bowls priced from S$10 to S$16 and built around a choice of protein and six noodle styles. Diners can choose pork belly chashu, butter-poached chicken breast or marinated beef short plate, with the latter available at an additional S$2.
The menu ranges from broth-based bowls to mostly dry noodles, including the Cool, which pairs thin mee kia-style noodles with an icy tare broth, and the Indoramen, tossed in a homemade kecap manis blend and topped with crispy shallots and garlic. The noodles are chewy without being overcooked, while the proteins are a strong point, particularly the tender and moist butter-poached chicken. Seasonings lean towards the team’s familiar combination of truffle, onion and garlic, carrying over some of the flavour profile from Nice Rice.
With limited seating, queues can build quickly, particularly around lunch, although the crowd tends to ease towards the restaurant’s 2.30pm closing time. For those looking for a quick noodle fix in the Telok Ayer area, Nice Noodle offers a compact, casual alternative with plenty of room for customisation.
