Kong Madam has opened at Guoco Midtown II along Tan Quee Lan Street, bringing a taste of Gangneung-style soft tofu to the heart of Bugis. Backed by a team with ties to Korean celebrity restaurateur Kang Ho Dong, the new restaurant combines contemporary design with traditional hanok-inspired touches, creating a warm and welcoming setting for casual Korean dining. Operating on a walk-in basis, the restaurant is positioned as a new destination for those craving authentic Korean comfort food in the city.
The menu centres around freshly made soontofu, crafted daily using Korean soybeans and seawater for a softer, more delicate texture than conventional tofu. Diners can choose from a variety of set meals pairing bubbling stone pot stews with hot sotbap (stone pot rice), free-flow barley tea and an assortment of traditional banchan. Grilled favourites such as the Special Sauce Charcoal-Grilled LA Beef Short Ribs and Charcoal-Grilled Eel are standout options, while Korean classics like kimchi pancakes round out the menu.
With its focus on handcrafted tofu and hearty Korean set meals, Kong Madam offers a refreshing alternative to the familiar Korean barbecue chains found across Singapore. Blending traditional recipes with a stylish dining space, the new Bugis restaurant celebrates the comforting flavours of Korea while introducing diners to the distinctive culinary heritage of Gangneung.
