International French School Singapore is entering a major new chapter with the completion of its campus expansion, a project designed to support growing enrolment while redefining sustainable education spaces in Singapore. Officially completed in September 2025, the expanded campus introduces a new five-storey classroom block, an eight-storey administration and ancillary building, and Singapore’s first zero energy French kindergarten — a milestone that positions the school at the forefront of environmentally conscious educational design.
Spanning approximately 22,800 square metres, the new facilities were carefully planned with student wellbeing and sustainability in mind. Designed to maximise natural ventilation and daylight, the campus incorporates features such as north-south oriented classrooms to reduce solar heat gain, rooftop educational gardens for hands-on learning, and outdoor playgrounds that double as rainwater harvesting systems. The kindergarten itself has achieved BCA Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy) certification, powered by rooftop photovoltaic panels capable of generating enough electricity annually to support lighting and air-conditioning needs without relying on fossil fuels or the public grid.
Beyond its environmental ambitions, the expansion significantly enhances the school’s learning and community spaces. New additions include a sports hall, multi-purpose hall, 350-seat auditorium, staff recreation areas and interconnected learning blocks linked seamlessly to the existing campus. Established in 1967 with just 15 students, the International French School Singapore now accommodates around 3,000 students, with the expanded campus expected to support up to 4,000 students in the years ahead.
