Changi Airport Terminal 3 is set for a major upgrade, marking one of the airport’s final large-scale enhancements ahead of the highly anticipated Terminal 5. The upcoming works are designed to boost passenger capacity and improve overall flow, ensuring that travellers continue to experience the efficiency and comfort the airport is known for—even as traffic steadily increases in the years leading up to T5’s completion.
A key focus of the upgrade is the integration of advanced technology across the terminal. Expect a stronger push towards automation, with expanded self-service options for check-in and security, alongside the introduction of robotics in areas such as facility maintenance. These enhancements will also serve as live testbeds for systems that could eventually be implemented at Changi Airport Terminal 5, positioning Terminal 3 as a preview of what’s to come.
Beyond technology, the refresh will include expanded infrastructure to support growing demand—from additional bus gates to improved aircraft handling capabilities. New services are also in the pipeline, including off-airport check-in options at selected hotels, allowing travellers to drop off their luggage before even arriving at the airport. Together, these updates reinforce Changi’s long-term strategy: to continuously evolve its existing terminals while laying the groundwork for its next chapter in global aviation.
