Hidden along the basement linkway at Capitol Singapore, Error 404 Cafe is a modern dessert café by pastry chef Pang Kok Keong, known to many for the former Antoinette patisserie. The new concept sits just steps from City Hall MRT, offering an easy stop without needing to leave the air-conditioned walkway. True to its name, the café leans into a playful, tech-inspired identity, from its pixelated dinosaur logo to its almost all-white interior, where clean surfaces and futuristic seating give the space the feel of a minimalist design gallery.
The menu reflects Chef Pang’s mix of classical pastry training and modern Asian influences. Desserts take the spotlight, drawing inspiration from Taiwanese sweets, Chinese dessert soups, and European pâtisserie, often combined into layered, highly styled plates. Alongside these are speciality teas, matcha drinks, milk teas, and fruit infusions, with customisable options that lean closer to bubble-tea culture than traditional café service. A small savoury section rounds out the offering with comforting rice bowls and simple mains, making the café suitable for lunch, afternoon tea, or just dessert.
Unlike the chef’s earlier, more formal concepts, Error 404 is designed to be casual and accessible, with QR ordering, quick service, and a setting that invites short visits rather than long meals. The bright, photogenic space naturally draws the social-media crowd, but it also works as a quiet midday stop in the middle of the city. With its mix of nostalgic Asian flavours, modern presentation, and playful branding, the café feels less like a traditional patisserie and more like an experimental dessert lab tucked beneath the busy City Hall district.
