Thye Moh Chan has reopened at Jewel Changi Airport, marking its return with a refreshed look and an expanded range of pastries designed for modern gifting. As the oldest Singapore pastry brand to open at Jewel, the heritage bakery offers both locals and travellers a chance to experience time-honoured Teochew flavours, now presented in newly redesigned packaging that makes for thoughtful souvenirs and festive gifts.
Established in 1943, Thye Moh Chan has spent over eight decades preserving the craft of traditional Teochew pastry-making. A cultural icon in Singapore, it is also the first and only Teochew bakery to receive the National Heritage Board’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Award in 2024. From its signature tau sar piah—flaky pastry filled with smooth mung bean paste—to other classic baked goods, each product continues to be made using traditional techniques passed down through generations of veteran chefs.
To celebrate the reopening, the Jewel outlet introduces packaging inspired by Teochew heritage and local cultural motifs, reimagined through classic patterns that feel both nostalgic and refined. The result is an elevated retail experience that honours the brand’s legacy while appealing to today’s travellers, ensuring Thye Moh Chan’s beloved pastries remain a meaningful part of Singapore’s culinary heritage.
