Visitors to Temasek Shophouse can now discover Martket by Abry, a new retail concept by Singaporean fashion and lifestyle brand Abry. More than just a store, the initiative provides employment opportunities for seniors, women from underserved communities, and people with disabilities. It also includes a six-month mentorship programme, offering participants hands-on experience as staff, producers, or entrepreneurs.
Shoppers can expect a thoughtful merchandise line featuring umbrellas, notebooks, wearables, and more, many of which showcase artwork by deaf artist Canlaken. His designs, inspired by the flora and fauna of Temasek Shophouse, bring an added layer of storytelling and meaning to each piece.
“Martket by Abry is envisioned as a space for design, craft and community, where individuals get to grow their skills, share their stories, and contribute meaningfully,” said Abry founder Adriana Lim Escano. Yvonne Tay, general manager of Temasek Shophouse, added: “We are delighted to welcome Martket by Abry and Bibik Violet, alongside Foreword Coffee, as part of our journey to build a more connected and inclusive society.”
