Home-based cafés are having a moment in Singapore, with passionate bakers and baristas turning their homes into cosy culinary spots. One standout is Knead Kopi, a charming old-school café nestled in the front yard of a Bukit Timah home. Unlike the trendy bakes and matcha drinks seen elsewhere, Knead Kopi takes a nostalgic approach, offering traditional breakfast sets and local-style beverages in a relaxed, outdoor setting.
Run by a couple who welcome guests day and night, the café has quickly become a neighbourhood favourite. On arrival, visitors are greeted by a laid-back setup of camping chairs and foldable tables under a sheltered canopy. The atmosphere is inviting and communal, attracting a mix of patrons—from curious foodies to nearby residents. One of the highlights is their signature breakfast set: three pieces of baguette topped with homemade kaya and butter, served with soft-boiled eggs and a choice of kopi or teh.
Knead Kopi offers more than just a meal; it’s a slice of local life served with a side of nostalgia. The unique experience of enjoying a traditional breakfast in someone’s front yard leaves a lasting impression, making it a delightful stop for those exploring the Bukit Timah area. Located just an eight-minute walk from Tan Kah Kee MRT, the café is currently on a short break but will reopen on 8 April, ready to welcome guests once again.
