Nestled on the third floor of 100 AM in Tanjong Pagar, Sweet Dots is a new dessert café bringing traditional Chinese treats to the heart of the CBD. The family-run establishment draws from four generations of recipes, offering a nostalgic escape through warm bowls of comforting desserts. With a fully nett-priced menu — a rare sight in the city centre — Sweet Dots makes for a wallet-friendly indulgence. Standouts include the Signature Pistachio Paste, a limited daily special that arrives warm and fragrant, generously topped with crushed nuts. Its smooth yet slightly gritty texture impressed, though the pistachio flavour could have been more pronounced.
Another favourite was the Rainbow Tang Yuan in Ginger Soup, featuring peanut and black sesame dumplings in a gently spiced broth. The peanut filling, in particular, stood out for its rich sweetness and contrast against the warming ginger. For durian lovers, the MSW Durian Mousse offers a cold, creamy version of the pungent fruit — faithful to its flavour, though perhaps less exciting in texture. The Mango Pomelo Sago Beancurd, with its vibrant mix of taro balls, mango, and pearls, delighted with its textural play but fell slightly short with its underwhelming beancurd base.
Despite its small footprint, Sweet Dots seats around 25 diners and charms with cosy lighting and warm wood accents. While the desserts didn’t quite push boundaries, the café still delivers a satisfying experience for those craving traditional sweets with a modern touch. Conveniently located just five minutes from Tanjong Pagar MRT, it’s an ideal pit stop for a midday recharge — especially if you manage to snag one of their limited-run specials before they sell out.
