Train Pod @ One-North

Singapore’s first-ever train hotel, Train Pod @ one-north, has been officially launched, transforming a decommissioned MRT carriage into a unique co-living hospitality experience. Housed in a third-generation Kawasaki-Nippon Sharyo C751B train that served the North-South and East-West lines from 2000 to 2024, the hotel features eight compact rooms, each about 7.5 square metres. Retaining the train’s original interior elements – including the MRT map and posters from the Land Transport Authority’s campaigns – the rooms are air-conditioned, fitted with bunk beds for two guests, and include en-suite bathrooms. Guests can also enjoy a 30-minute video filmed from the captain’s cabin, recreating a train journey from Redhill to Joo Koon.

The innovative project by Tiny Pod, located next to Block 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent at JTC LaunchPad, integrates sustainable hospitality with creative placemaking. The site will include additional features such as a public recreational green space, food and beverage vending machines, bicycle racks, and outdoor benches crafted from repurposed train seats. The smart lock system, developed in partnership with local start-up Igloo Home, enhances the tech-enabled co-living concept.

This train hotel builds on Tiny Pod’s earlier success with its pop-up shipping container hotels, first introduced at LaunchPad in 2020 and later expanded to sites like Gardens by the Bay and Haw Par Villa. Founder and CEO Seah Liang Chiang highlighted the brand’s mission to transform underutilised spaces into profitable and eco-conscious lodging experiences. With support from JTC, LTA, and MTI, the project aims to meet growing demand from travellers seeking sustainable and memorable stays, positioning Tiny Pod as a leader in the evolving eco-hospitality landscape.
