The Force has officially landed at Changi Airport with Singapore’s first-ever Star Wars Pop-Up Library, located on Level 2 of Terminal 3 near the Skytrain and Jewel link bridge. Open now through 24 January 2026, this immersive experience is brought to life by the National Library Board (NLB), in collaboration with Disney and Changi Airport Group, as part of NLB’s 30th anniversary and its LAB25 vision to bring reading into new and unexpected spaces. Inside, visitors can browse over 2,000 Star Wars books spanning 380 unique titles, handpicked by NLB librarians. From graphic novels and junior fiction to board books for little ones, highlights include The Mandalorian: The Manga, Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith, The High Republic series, and even The Padawan Cookbook. eBooks are also available to borrow.
This isn’t a typical library. In place of librarians, robotic arms retrieve and shelve books through an automated system—the first of its kind in Singapore. Users can browse titles via touchscreen kiosk, and the robot will do the rest. Borrowers can check out up to 16 physical or digital books for 21 days, with returns accepted at any NLB library, or via a themed drop-off point onsite for books borrowed from this pop-up. To borrow, users simply download the NLB Mobile app, log in with a myLibrary ID, and scan the book’s barcode or QR code. Forgetting to check out? The gate will give a friendly reminder before you leave.
Beyond the shelves, there’s plenty for fans to enjoy. Visitors can take a Jedi personality quiz, test their knowledge at the trivia wall, and pose with lightsabers in front of screens looping iconic scenes from the franchise. Beloved droids R2-D2 and C-3PO are also stationed outside for photo ops. Entry is simple—just scan a library-compliant ID or NLB eCard. Travellers without one can request a QR code day pass using a Singapore-registered mobile number or email. Whether passing through or planning a special visit, this intergalactic reading experience promises an unforgettable detour.
