Bertazzoni has opened its second showroom on Genting Road, showcasing its century-old legacy of producing high-quality kitchen appliances for both homes and professional chefs. Although relatively new to local homeowners, Bertazzoni is a highly esteemed Italian brand known for its well-crafted ovens, range cookers, hobs, and hoods. Founded by Francesco Bertazzoni in 1882 in Guastalla, Italy, the company has been passed down through generations of the Bertazzoni family. Antonio Bertazzoni took over in the early 20th century, followed by Napoleone Bertazzoni, who introduced mass production to the company in the 1920s.
After Napoleone’s death in 1939, Angela Bonfanti, his wife, bought out the business with her children, gaining full ownership. The youngest of her children, Francesco Bertazzoni, later succeeded her, leading to a family division and the creation of SMEG, which remains within the Bertazzoni family. The company evolved over the decades, introducing its first gas cooking ovens in 1956, electric ovens in 1975, and induction cooktops in 2005. Despite these innovations, Bertazzoni continued to produce wood-burning stoves into the 1980s.
Bertazzoni remains a family-operated business, with Paolo Bertazzoni becoming the fifth-generation CEO and president in 1999. His sister Elisabetta serves on the board of directors, while his children Valentina and Nicola hold senior positions. Since the early 2000s, Bertazzoni has adopted the Toyota Production System, aligning production levels with actual market demand rather than available production capacity, ensuring efficiency and responsiveness to consumer needs.
