Fitlab: A High-Tech Gym That Brings Sport Management Learning to Life
At ITE College Central in Ang Mo Kio, a former classroom has undergone a complete transformation to become Fitlab—an open-concept gym designed to immerse students in a real-world fitness environment. Officially launched in April 2025, this 450 sq m facility now supports over 560 students enrolled in the Higher Nitec in Sport Management course, allowing them to learn and train using state-of-the-art equipment that mirrors professional gyms.
The refurbishment, which began in July 2024 and concluded in March 2025, introduces a new level of practical learning. Students lead circuit training sessions, assess posture and movement using AI-powered motion capture systems, and interpret real-time data from InBody health scanners—technologies widely used in sports and rehabilitation industries. Lecturer Mr Alif Hafiz Masnor shared that these enhancements help students stay in tune with dynamic trends and equip them for internships and future careers in the fitness sector.
Beyond high-tech tools, Fitlab is stocked with industry-standard gym equipment such as kettlebells, dumbbells, and multifunctional trainers. Student Malcolm Voong, who is set to complete his course in 2025, highlighted how the facility bridges theory and practice. “Getting better in sports is not just about training, but also understanding what your body needs. Every body is different, so this is a very fun part of learning,” he said. Fitlab is part of ITE’s broader strategy to enhance hands-on education across its campuses.
