The Toa Payoh Integrated Development (TPID), set for completion by 2030, marks a significant transformation for Toa Payoh town. Located between Lorong 6 and the PIE, TPID will feature a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including a 10,000-seater stadium, a 2,000-seater aquatic center with indoor and outdoor pools, and a 5,000-seater indoor hall equipped for badminton and team sports. Additional amenities include a gym, sheltered courts for futsal, tennis, and netball, as well as upgraded community spaces such as a larger library, a revamped town park retaining its iconic lookout tower, and new features like a dog run and an allotment garden.
The TPID will also serve as a secondary hub for national sporting facilities, hosting training centers for aquatics, netball, and table tennis, alongside major sporting and community events. Singapore’s national athletes, including netballers and table tennis players, anticipate improved training opportunities at the new venue. Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong emphasized the development’s goal of enhancing community engagement and creating lasting memories for residents. He credited agencies like Sport Singapore, the National Library Board, and the National Parks Board for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
Residents of Toa Payoh have expressed enthusiasm for the development, which revitalizes one of Singapore’s oldest towns and aligns with the nation’s vision for sustainability. Real estate professional Germaine Chua sees it as an opportunity for Toa Payoh to rival newer towns, while speech therapist Jackie Li envisions a more vibrant community. Beyond Toa Payoh, the project is part of the broader Sports Facilities Master Plan under Vision 2030, joining integrated hubs like Our Tampines Hub and Heartbeat@Bedok. With advancements like these, the TPID aims to inspire the next generation of athletes and foster a stronger sense of community.
