Animal and Veterinary Service’s Centre for Animal Rehabilitation is the very first dedicated facility for animal behavioural rehabilitation in Singapore. Providing a calm and spacious environment for incoming stray dogs which tend to be fearful and anxious due to the sudden changes in their surroundings, the new centre will help stray dogs integrate into pet life through purpose-built features. These include compartmentalised kennels and dog runs, which are used for a tried-and-tested rehabilitation programme, and a Visitor’s Lounge designed to mirror a typical Singaporean home.
The centre marks a key milestone in their science-based approach towards managing the stray animal population here, and supports their Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) programme which aims to re-home as many stray dogs as possible. As Singapore moves towards becoming a City in Nature, a key pillar of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, this initiative will help to promote harmonious living between the community and the animals.
