From the enclave of Canggu to the streets of Duxton comes a nightlife establishment that’s been stirring the pot of the Bali scene. Behind The Green Door is set to open in Q1 2024, bringing with it its famed reputation as a speakeasy and after-hours party haven. Its launch in Singapore marks the venue’s first overseas flagship concept, and it’ll be running operations at 97 Duxton Road, the former site of Kilo Restaurant.
Behind The Green Door is actually one of the Bali venues run by Kilo Collective Concept, so its Singaporean counterpart is the collective’s way of giving the address a second lease of life. But what’s even more noteworthy is that BTGD Singapore is an endeavour between Kilo Collective Concept and A Phat Cat Collective. Just as how the Kilo brand has left an indelible imprint on the community, A Phat Cat Collective is equally accomplished with its triple threat of now-defunct nightlife venues NINETEEN80, Pinball Wizard and Rails; all snuffed out prematurely by the blight of the pandemic. With these two industry powerhouses at the helm, the arrival of BTGD Singapore is looking to be no modest occasion.
“Behind the Green Door Bali was something that made magic in Bali and we look forward to bringing it in here,” shares Joshua Pillai (A Phat Cat Collective) who now also spins under the alias Raaj. Following the Balinese haunt’s identity as a cocktail lounge and music emporium, BTGD Singapore will feature artfully crafted cocktails inspired by the flavours of Bali, as well as a diverse music programme with genres spanning house, disco, UK funky, hip-hop and drum & bass. Some selectors who’ve already been added to the roster include James Selva, Sivanesh, Candice B and KFC, and you can expect to catch them in the series of soft launch parties that’ll roll out in the coming weeks.
