Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened its new Asia-Pacific headquarters at IOI Central Boulevard, marking a significant milestone in Amazon’s 15-year presence in Singapore. Spanning eight floors, the new office can accommodate up to 3,000 employees and serves as a strategic hub for digital transformation across ASEAN.
Alongside the launch, The new Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific Hub announced plans to hire over 100 roles in its cloud and corporate functions, expanding its local workforce beyond the current 2,500 employees across various divisions. This follows Amazon’s commitment in May 2024 to invest $12 billion in Singapore’s cloud computing infrastructure, which is projected to contribute significantly to the country’s economy and job market.
The second new corporate headquarter is designed as a collaborative space, fostering connections between AWS leaders, industry partners, and enterprises to drive technological advancements in the region. Speaking at the inauguration, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Janil Puthucheary emphasized the importance of equipping Singapore’s workforce with the necessary skills to thrive in a digital economy.
