Calling all lovers of Warabimochi Kamakura – your favourite Warabimochi and Warabimochi Drinks are about to get closer to you. Known for their snaking queues in Japan and Singapore, the massively popular warabimochi specialist has now opened their 2nd outlet at Taste Orchard.
Founded in 2004, Warabimochi Kamakura has steadfastly taken over Japan with more than 50 stores and counting, including one in Hong Kong and one in Canada. During the official opening of its first Singapore outlet at One Holland Village, queues snaked for hours. This is testament to their commitment to their products, the warabimochi and warabimochi drinks, which are carefully crafted and curated with the goal of providing delicious food that can be enjoyed by different generations.
Its Warabimochi is made the traditional way with bracken starch, elevated to a silkier mouthfeel thanks to the addition of a house secret blend. The result is a mochi that is chewier, lighter in texture and goes down smoother with each bite. Each serving is dusted generously with carefully selected and high quality kinako sourced exclusively from Japan. As compared to conventional kinako, Warabimochi Kamakura’s kinako has been roasted at a higher temperature and for longer time, resulting in a deeper and richer flavour. It is finished off with a house-made kuromitsu syrup, made exclusively with 100% pure brown sugar from Okinawa without any additions of corn or sugar syrup.
One can enjoy its iconic warabimochi in different formats. For the traditionalists among us, the pride and joy of the brand are the hand-cut and hand-tossed pieces of warabimochi that are made fresh daily. These come in Boxes of 5 pieces and 10 pieces, with the 10-piece box also available in a special box made from Paulownia wood, a perfect gift for that special someone. Those who prefer a quick indulgence can have them in Warabimochi Cups of 2 pieces, served with or without ice cream for a refreshing dessert that is a welcome treat for anyone in sunny Singapore!
