Following its success at One Holland Village, Taste Orchard, and Takashimaya S.C, Warabimochi Kamakura is expanding its presence in Singapore with a new outlet opening in JEM. This will be their fourth outlet in the country. For those unfamiliar with the brand, here’s a bit of history. Warabimochi Kamakura has been around for over two decades and operates 50 outlets in Japan. Their expansion into Singapore also marks their debut in Southeast Asia.
The brand is famous for its warabimochi and mochi desserts. Unlike typical glutinous rice flour-based mochi, Warabimochi Kamakura uses bracken starch covered in kinako (roasted soybean flour). This results in a mochi with a unique, much softer, almost silky chew. They continue to make their warabimochi using traditional methods and high-quality ingredients. Notably, they are the only warabimochi makers in Singapore that use 100% bracken starch, while others often mix in tapioca flour.
While there is no official opening date for the JEM outlet, a hoarding has been spotted in the basement of the popular Jurong East Mall. Fans of the brand can look forward to enjoying their traditional Japanese desserts at this new location soon.
