In case you missed it, The Elephant Room has moved to a new location in Tanjong Pagar. This former speakeasy has been transformed into a more sophisticated space while retaining its signature charm. As you enter the cozy venue, you’ll notice a photo wall showcasing the bar’s journey, along with a spice corner where you can see, smell, and learn about the spices used in their cocktails.
The fifth menu iteration continues to draw inspiration from Little India, balancing savory, spicy, and umami flavors. One standout is the Spiced Crab Rasam, a tangy twist on a dirty martini featuring flower crab, vodka distillate, rasam, tamarind, and a hint of kaffir lime and ghee sake to enhance the seafood without overwhelming it. If a traditional Negroni feels too strong, the Wild and Fresh offers a sour plum profile from kokum (wild mangosteens from India) paired with gentle bitters.
While the Chicken Biryani could use bolder flavors, its concept and technique shine, blending homemade biryani tincture with basmati makgeolli and ghee sake, finished with shaved cured masala egg and papadum. The food menu features a delightful mix of small and large elevated Indian dishes that will satisfy your appetite, including spice-crusted cauliflower, spiced Kerala beef, and the Indian fried chicken burger—all perfect companions for any drink of your choice.
