In July, the internationally acclaimed dining and entertainment hotspot Sushisamba will make its debut in Singapore. Founded in New York in 1999, Sushisamba is known for its high-floor locations that combine Japanese, Peruvian, and Brazilian cuisines with cocktails and music. The Singapore launch follows recent expansions to Edinburgh’s W Hotel, Doha’s Waldorf Astoria, Dubai’s St Regis Hotel, and Bahrain’s Conrad Bahrain Financial Harbour. Sushisamba also has locations in The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas and London’s Heron Tower and Covent Garden.
Sushisamba Singapore will be located on the 52nd floor of the Capital Tower in the Central Business District, offering 360-degree views of the city skyline. The 12,000 square-foot venue will feature a theatre-style open kitchen and robata grill, a main dining area, a cocktail bar, and three private dining rooms. The iconic Samba Room, a lounge area on the mezzanine floor, will be perfect for private events. This space takes over the former China Club, which closed in 2020, and will seat 250 guests.
James Oliver Burton, vice-president of Asia for Sunset Hospitality Group, emphasizes that Sushisamba will adapt to the local market by focusing on food and beverage initially, with wine and cocktail pairings. The “samba feeling” will be introduced gradually on weekends. Culinary director Moon Kyung Soo, who has experience in Singapore’s dining scene, will oversee preparations. The menu will include global Sushisamba favorites and Singapore-exclusive items like the Samba Singapore Roll. This launch signals Sushisamba’s plans for further expansion in Singapore, including creating a culinary hub within a resort, offering a luxurious lifestyle environment for a sophisticated clientele.
