Sushi Sakuta begins a new chapter at Millenia Walk, unveiling a refreshed space that reflects Chef Yoshio Sakuta’s exacting approach to Japanese fine dining. One of only two Japanese restaurants in Singapore awarded two Michelin stars, the move signals a significant step for the brand, bringing its reputation for craftsmanship into a purpose-built setting designed for calm, clarity and precision. The 16-seat restaurant features a ten-seat hinoki counter and a private six-seat room, framed by soft shoji lighting and rotating Japanese artworks that introduce subtle shifts in atmosphere through the seasons.
The new venue places strong emphasis on refinement and proportion. Natural materials, thoughtful light control and an intentionally quiet palette work together to create a sanctuary-like environment that directs attention to the chef’s movements and the beauty of each ingredient. Behind the counter, every detail is calibrated—from the temperature of the shari to the flow of courses—mirroring the disciplined philosophy that earned Chef Sakuta his accolades. The setting amplifies this focus, providing a stage where technique, tradition and contemporary design meet seamlessly.
Supporting the culinary direction is an elevated beverage programme led by Head Sommelier Iwabuchi Makoto, whose curation includes limited-production sakes and expressive wine pairings that echo the restaurant’s emphasis on harmony. With its renewed space and sharpened identity, Sushi Sakuta reinforces its position as one of Singapore’s most notable Japanese dining addresses—calm, precise and dedicated to the quiet pursuit of mastery.
